Jordyn is Two Months Old!!

Well this is really old but I wanted to get it up so I could do a four month update and talk about some of the things that we have been up to.  So today Jordyn turns two months old!!  I know it seems impossible.  I remember the day that I found out that I had to wait ten more days to have her.  That day feels like ten days ago not two months ago.  Adding Jordyn to our family has been amazing.  Don't get me wrong there has been many ups and downs but I am in love.  I never in my life thought that I could fall in love four times but I have!!!  One of the things that I love about having Jordyn in our family is how Kenton and Madison love her as much as I do.  A couple of days ago she had a shirt on that said Mommy's Girl.  Madison asked what it said and I told her.  Her response was "No Mom, she is my girl."  I love that.

Jordyn taken a nap on the couch.

We have a picture of each of the kids at seven days old on their Daddy's lap.  I hope to get all three of them and post them on here soon.

Jordyn is a great baby.  She is a little more needy then her brother and sister where but not anything that we can't handle.  One of the things that she loves to do is sleep.  I just wish that she would sleep a little better at night and not during the day.  Jordyn loves to sleep in her swing, in her bed, and in her Daddy's arms.  One of the things that is a little different about her then our other kids is the amount that she wants to be held.  She likes her swing but at the same time would rather be held.  One of the reason why I think that she likes to be held so much is she can hear our hearts and knows that she is not alone.  I have read that a baby who are born blind love to be with it's parents at all time.  I love caring and holding Jordyn but at the same time need to put her down sometimes just to get things done around the house.

If Jordyn is not sleeping she probably eating.  Jordyn eats like a charm.  My oldest son Kenton was a great eater too.  Madison my second child was kind of a light eater.  I would say that Jordyn is somewhere in the middle of them.  She likes to eat about every two to two and a half hours and to eat about 3 1/2 to 4 ounces.  Jordyn really likes to drink breast milk!!

Jordyn is not very fond of laying on the floor either on her stomach or her back.  I do think that she would like it better if she did not have someone laying with her and bothering her all the time.  I try to get her some floor time when the kids are napping or when they are in bed for the night.  One of the things that I noticed is that she kind of likes laying on her stomach.  I don't think that my other kids liked laying on their stomach like she did.

An example why I can't let her be on the floor for long!!!

Going outside to watch big bro and sis play.

Being held at the hospital by Daddy.

My First love and my fourth love!!!!!!!

Kenton's first day of school.  I told them I wanted to take a picture of Kenton and I ended up with them wanting a picture like this!!!

One of the best things that I love doing with Jordyn is talking with her.  When you are changing her diaper she loves to talk to you.  At night when the other kids are asleep she loves to lay on the floor with you and talk.  Jordyn loves to smile and laugh a lot.  Jordyn started smiling around day two at the hospital.  When she first smiled she had a little smirk.  Now she has a beautiful smile.  Another thing that I love is her laught.  Most of the time when she laughs it is a cute belly laugh.

Well as you can see by the picture's Jordyn is well loved.  I am so happy that I have three amazing children.  Jordyn has been a great baby especially since she has to compete with a four and two year old!!

My Thoughts!!

This is kind of going to be a different post for me.  I am still a little unsure about how I want to word it so here we go.  It has been about three weeks since we found out that little Jordyn by now 6 week old (time flyes)  is blind.  I want to make this post about my feelings toward her being blind and just what I am going through.  The big reason why I want to do this is because I feel like we are out her alone with a blind child.  I am hoping that by writing this post someone can see it and later if they are facing this situation they know that they are not alone and how I handed it.

I have many different thoughts going through my head everyday.  To be honest to you I feel like I have been in a dream world ever since we found out.  One minute I am mad, sad, and frustrated all at the same time.  When we first found out like most Moms do I blamed myself.  I thought to myself what did I do during the pregnancy to make this happen.  One of the things that you read when you look up baby being born blind is from a mother drinking when she is pregnant.  I am not a drinker and to be honest probably can count the number of times I have drank since I was pregnant with Kenton on one hand.  So that it not what I am thinking but I was thinking about the number of Mountain Dews I had.  I never drank pop with Kenton and only had one a week with Madison but with Jordyn I struggled with not having one a day.  I know that sounds crazy but it crossed my mind.

Another thing that crossed my mind was how I never stopped when I was pregnant with Jordyn I was always on the go trying to get things done or just wanted to give Madison and Kenton everything I could so never sat down and took the day off.  Right away when we where told about Jordyn the doctors told me that I did nothing wrong and there was nothing that I could have done to make her blind.  But deep down inside I still felt some responsibility for it.

Another thing that bothered me was when we had the amino done at 37 weeks 5 days I found out the my fluid level was low.  I wondered if this would of been caught if this would have changed things.  One of the things that they say when you have low fluid the baby doesn't move that much.  Jordyn was not a big mover inside of me but at the same time either was Maddy.  One of the reason why I did not feel Jordyn move that much was because of where my placenta was located which was on top of the baby.

Another feeling that I felt was hurt or asking the question why.  I have not always been a spiritual person but I would say that in the last two year I have found Jesus and he is a part of my life everyday.  I try to teach my kids that everything in life comes from him and we do for him. So when I got told about this I felt hurt by God.  I felt like he had punished me for something that I did wrong.  I felt like he had let me down.  Then the question why came into play.  Why Scott and me?  I mean I am a good Mom and Scott is a good Dad so why did this have to happen.  I know that God doesn't give you anything that you can't handle so he must know that we can do this this.  But still why?  WHY us, WHY Jordyn?  I still question this and don't know if I will every get this answer but deep down inside know that God is with me every step of the way and he knows what is best for my little girl and well tell me what I need to do to make her life the best it can be.

I know that this is going to come off weird but here we go.  Right now what I want to do is give Jordyn one of my eyes.  I know that this is not possible but it is just what I am thinking.  I still can't even think about what the road has in store for her.  I also know that she will never know the difference but it still stinks.  When we found out at the hospital there was this beautiful fish tank that had keep me busy well I waited for the bad news.  The second the doctor told us she was blind my thought was that she will never know how beautiful that fish tank is.  Then my mind went to the zoo.  Kent and Maddy love the zoo.  How will Jordyn ever get to see the zoo the way that they do?  She not going to touch a lion or a bear!

Everyday since we found out.  I find things that make me mad or sad that she will never see.  She will never get to see my face, her beautiful face, her brother and sister doing crazy things.  Or even the simple things in life.  Right now I have so many questions about how will she do things like fix her hair, walk down the street, or even play fun games with her brother and sister.  I know that as time goes on I will find out these answers.  I plan on trying to update you on the changes I am feeling and the things that we are doing with Jordyn as time goes on.

So I am going to end this right now by saying that I am still heart broken about this all.  But I know that God gave me this beautiful angel to take care of and love no matter what.  Right now well I type I am holding one of the best things that ever came into my life.

Finding out Jordyn is blind.

Finding out about Jordyn has changed our life forever.  When Jordyn was born she was born with scratches on her face that most doctors and nurses had no clue what to think.  If you follow me on here you would of seen the scratches on some of the photos.  Jordyn seemed to be health and had no other problems we thought when she was born.  One of the things that we did question about was her eyes.  Both my other kids had there eyes open all the time and had big big eyes.  Jordyn on the other hand had very small pupils and very seldom opened her eyes.  Before leaving the hospital my husband and I questions the doctor about her eyes but he said that they would get better with time.  I ended up going home two days after having Jordyn so thought that he was right and they would get better.

Jordyn's little foot hooked up to all these machines.

Two weeks later on August 13th my husband took Jordyn to her two week appointment and that is when we found out something was wrong.  The doctor there looked at her eyes and said that he did not like the look of her left eye and that he wanted us to go see a opthamologist (eye doctor).  So my husband took her to an opthamologist right away.  There the optamologist said he also did not like the look of her left eye either and would like to put her to sleep to get a better look at both eyes.

Jordyn's first wagon ride and Children's Hospital.

So we scheduled an appointment for the next Monday at Children's to have our three week old put under to look at her eyes.  I was a little worried because I have some malignant hyperthermia in the family.  This is where you can be put under and your temp can go high and can cause problems even death.  So everyone our families where a little worried but at the same time knew she was in good hands.

So on Monday August 20th Jordyn was put under to have her eyes looked at.  About an hour later the doctor came back and said that her left eye was blind and he was hoping that the right eye could be saved.  He told us at that time he was wanting another doctor to look at her eyes as well.  Since we where at the hospital and had to be there for 24 hours the doctors decided to do some more tests.  My poor little three week old was put through so many tests that day but handled it like a pro.  Well there we got a call telling us that Jordyn would need to be put under again that Thursday and a cornea specialist would be looking at her eyes to see if he could save her sight.  We did not want her to have to go through the procedure again but knew it was for the best.  We were hoping that this doctor would be able to help her have a little sight.
Jordyn in the recovery room.  She looks so small here.

On Thursday August 23rd Jordyn was put under again to see if there was anything they could do for out little girl.  Sadly enough two hours later we would get the news that no parent wants to hear.  This specialist told us that there was nothing that he could do for our little girl.  He said that Jordyn had a rare eye condition called microphthalmia which means small eyes.  He said that there was nothing that he could do and she was blind.

Here is a picture of our little Jordyn today!!

It has now been two weeks since we found out about Jordyn.  I am still at a loss of words.  My emotions are still very crazy.  The only thing that I know is that she is our little angel and we love her through and through.

My third angel is here!!!!

So here she is!!!

This Mom is so happy!!!

Well I know that I have been gone for awhile but I have a good reason at least after the end of July.  We welcomed a little baby girl on July 30th at 12:09pm.  Jordyn Elizabeth was born weighing 6lbs 1oz and 19inches long.

One of the things that I love about having another child is the first 9 months of holding inside of me.  I think that the creation of a child is so amazing.  I still don't know how God makes it happen, but love that he does!  When I found out I was pregnant with Jordyn I was so happy.  I have always wanted more then two kids because I was 2 of 2.  Another thing that was different with this pregnancy was that we where not going to find out the sex of the baby.  With Kenton we where so excited to find out it was crazy.  With Madison I was so happy we found out so I could get some amazing girl clothes and stuff.  With this little bundle we decided that since we had all the clothes(boy and girl) we did not need to find out.  Scott also would like this to be our last child so we thought this would make it so exciting.

As for this pregnancy it was kind of uneventful.  With the first two I had morning sickness or all day sickness.  With both of them I lost about 15 pounds in the first trimester.  With Jordyn I lost about ten and felt pretty bad but I think knew how to manage the sickness better.  By the time I hit the second trimester the only thing that was bothering me was the varicose veins.  Then when the third trimester hit the heart burn was crazy.  But tums was my friend and we got through.

We where planning on having Jordyn c-section on July 21st.  But a test that was taken on the 20th reveled that her lungs where not fully developed.  So I had to wait to meet our little angle another ten days.  Some of the longest days of my life.  During that time I was told that my amniotic fluid was low so it take it nice and easy.  We did not want me going into labor so I took it pretty easy trying not to do a lot for ten days.  Then a couple days before the c-section we got the call that said when we would be having Jordyn and we could not wait.
I don't look that good here but here is my three angels.  We are so happy.

Our family was going into the hospital a family of four and coming out a family of five!!!!!!  This was the fourth best day of my life along with getting married to Scott, giving birth to Kenton, and giving birth to Madison.  The day was perfect.  We went in got ready and then had Jordyn.  I think one of the best moments was when Kenton and Madison meet Jordyn for the first time.  I was one happy Mommy.

Can I get more organized?

So Sunday and Monday I was in a cleaning mood.  I washed all the sheets and blankets in the house.  Everyone went to bed in clean bedding which is unusual because I usually don't do it all in one day.  I then got the cloth diapers cleaned.  Then I vacuumed, sweeped, and cleaned up the kids rooms.

Then on Monday I cleaned the laundry room and put all the kids clothes away.  I also got most of the laundry done and this house actually looked half way decent.  So today I had some of my Mommy friends and the kids friends come over.  We had a great time and the kids really enjoyed seeing and playing with each other.

So since the kids where playing good I decided to show one of my Mommy friends my basement.  The friend that I showed my basement too is what I like to call an Organized Junkie!!!!!!  Here house looks amazing all the time and everything is always where it is supposed to be.

I don't know if I have ever told you about our basement.  We have been working on finishing our basement for awhile now.  We got two rooms almost done and then found out that we did something wrong and need to reduce some of it.  Since we found this out we have been at a stall.

Now with the third one on the way I really feel like we are running out of room upstairs and would love to have some of the basement be a play area.  This is why I decided to show my friend the basement.  I recently went to her house and she has made her unfinished basement a play area for her kids and I loved it.  I wanted to get her advice on what she would do if she where me.

This was her suggestion:
1.  Decluter
2.  Get Rid of a lot of things
3.  Decided where we want things
4.  Come up with some Organized ides.

My sister has always said that I needed to be on the show hoarders but I never thought that.  I know where everything is and if you ask for something I can always tell you in what general location it is.  One of the suggestions my friend gave me was to get rid of a lot of things.  She said to start with the kids toys, books, and some other things.

One of the reasons why my basement looks bad too is because we where supposed to have a garage sale in June but it got pushed to the side with an unexpected surgery in the family.  I know that if I could get rid of a lot of the g-sale stuff there would be a good chuck of the basement clean.

Another thing that I now know is that my sister my be a little right.  I might have a little hoarder in me.  When my friend said that I needed to get rid of some of my books that I collected and some of the kids toys my heart sunk.  The funny thing is that if you came into our house on any given day you would not think that I was a so called hoarder.  Our house is usually pretty clean except with the everyday dirtiness in places.  I know that we do have a lot of toys but I have kids and I want them to be happy with playing with there toys.  Some of the toys the baby will need or use when he/she comes.

Well the purpose of this post is to say that I always thought that I was organized.  But now that I see it through someone else eyes I hope I can get better.  I also hope that this friends can help me to accomplish my dream of having a fun little play room down stair for the kids to play with a couple of days a week.

Now all I have to do is hope that I can accomplish this and succeed.  I will try to get some pictures taken and show you the progress that I make if it is any!!!!!!

Fifth Frozen Meal Ready to go!

So I got my fifth meal done yesterday.  I am feeling a lot better today then I was with my last post.  I know that we are going to have some challenges but I am ready for them and know that the big man is on my side.

One of the things that I am coming to terms with is that everything might not be perfect or even close but most families are not perfect.  Right now I am struggling with my emotions.  I mean one minute I am happy, the next I am mad, and the next I am sad.  I know that this come with pregnancy but it is really hard to keep under control.

One of the things that I found out I need to do is just walk away or let the situation play out.  I have been doing this a lot with my two year old.  She is to that point where she wants to see how far she can push.  For awhile there I was letting her win.  Now I am not letting that happen.  I am letting her do some of the things that I would not normally do.  I am also being a little stinker with what she is doing.  One thing that is different with my second child then my first is my second child Madison is a lot more verbal then my son.  This I think is helping me get through here a lot more.  We are starting to talk through things a lot more and I feel that that is helping.

Well back to cooking.  Well my two year old was taking a nap yesterday I made my homemade lasagna for freezing.  I have been making lasagna for a long time now.  I don't really have a recipe but just do what Scott and I have grown to like.  So here it is.

Tiffany Lasagna

Meat Ingredients

1 Pound of Hamburger
Salt and Pepper
Onion Powder
Garlic Powder

Cheese Ingredients

1 24oz Container Low Fat Cottage Cheese
1 12oz Container Ricotta Cheese
1 Cup Mozzarella Cheese
1 Tbs Minced Garlic
Salt and Pepper
Italian Seasoning or Fresh Basil, Oregano, and Chives (add to taste)
2 Eggs

1 Jar your favorite spaghetti sauce (or I like homemade sauce)
1 Box Lasagna noodles
2 cups Mozzarella Cheese

Directions:

1. Boil water and cook Lasagna as directed on box.
2. Cook Hamburger and add all the spices.
3. Blend all cheese ingredients together.
4.  Start with a greased 9X13 pan.  Start with Sauce, meat mixture, noodles, cheese mixture, and then mozzarella cheese.  Then add more sauce, meat mixture and then noodles.  When you get to each new layer of noodles press down a little to make everything more even.  Then repeat until all your ingredients is gone.  Maker sure your last layer is cheese.

Cover and bake 350 for about and hour or until center is cooked through.  Good with a salad and garlic bread!!!!

Forth Fozen Meal Made Yesterday

Well I am on a roll making some of these meals.  I do have a couple more that I plan on making in the next couple of days.  I thought that if I made some of these things ahead I will not be so anxious and nervous for the third baby to come but I was wrong.  I mean I am glad that I am getting these things ready so I can say that I did them and hopefully they will help out, but at the same time I feel like I am getting nowhere.

Instead of my lists getting smaller as the days tick by I feel like they are getting bigger.  I feel like everyday I think of something else that I would like or think that I need to do.  One thing for sure is everyday it gets closer I am getting more nervous.  To be honest with you I don't think that I was that nervous when I was pregnant with Kenton the first.

Also things don't seem to be going our way lately.  I know that God has a plan and we just have to let it happen.  But, I am not a patient person and just want things to go my way.   I know that I should just be thankful for what I have because there are people who would love to have what I have.  At the same time you know how they say if you have a lot of money you still want more or if you get a good raise at work you still can't wait to get another raise.  This is how I feel everyday now.

I know that this sounds weird but I will give you an example of what I thought about today.  Once this baby comes I know that I wont want to load all three kids up and run to the store.  So I have been trying to stockpile and have things at the house.  So I know that this is just something little but today well doing Madison's hair I realized that I only have a couple more rubber bands for her hair.  I know little thing.  At the same time the thought of needing them soon or shortly after the baby comes makes me nervous.

I know that everything will happen and run it's course.  I also know that the first month will be crazy but Scott and I will get through it and our family will be complete for awhile with this new little addition.

Even thought I am a little overwhelmed I know that this is what we want and I know that I just can't wait to see this kicking baby come out into the world and become part of our family!

So let's get back to the meal planning.  Sorry about my rant!  I made my fourth meal yesterday and it was so easy.  One of the things about this meal is that it has a lot of steps after it has been frozen.  I made Chicken Parmesan.  So really all I had to do is bread the chicken.    When you get ready to make this the person will have to thaw it, heat the chicken, add sauce, and add cheese.  Then we usually like to have spaghetti and bread with this meal.  So then the person will have to make the spaghetti and bread as well.  This might be a little bigger meal and be a time with we know we have all the time to make the other things.

Another thing that I am unsure of is the recipe said not to cook the chicken.  I am a little nervous about make this meal and then not cooking it before hand.  I just hope when we pull it out ti eat it it is great.

I got this recipe from the site that I got the first two from.  Hope you try some of this lady amazing recipes.

Third Frozen Meal Made Today

So the third frozen meal that I wanted to make was not from the web site that I have been using.  This recipe came from a friend of my Mom's at home.  She was nice enough to make this meal for us when my uncle passed away.  I liked the meal so much I asked for the recipe.  When I was getting the recipe from her she told me that it is a great frozen meal.  So I have always wanted to make it and freeze it but never really needed a reason until now.

Here is the recipe, one of the things that I am sorry about is that she did not have the exact measurements for some of the spices so you just have to do them to your own taste.  This recipe also makes a big 9X13 pan and can feed a lot of people!
Chicken Tetrazzini Recipe

Chicken Tetarazzini

1/2 Stick of Butter
2 Cans of Mushrooms
Celery Salt
Garlic Powder
Onion Salt
Salt and Pepper
3 Cans of Chicken (I am not big on can chicken so usually just cook my own chicken.)
2 Cans of Cream of Chicken
1 Can of Milk (using the Cream of Chicken Can)
2 Cups Sour Cream
1 Cup Parmesan Cheese
1 Cup Sliced Almonds
1 Box Angel Hair Pasta

Start the water and cook the  Angel Hair Pasta according to the directions on the box.

Then in a separate pan melt the butter and cook the cans of mushrooms.  Then add all the seasoning to your taste.  After the mushrooms are hot add the chicken and heat through.

Then add the Cream of chicken and can of milk and heat.  Then add the Sour Cream and let set until pasta is done.

Then drain pasta and add to sauce.  Stir the pasta and the sauce.  Once mixed add to a greased 9X13 pan.  Sprinkle the cheese on the top of the pasta.  Then cover and cook in a 350 degree oven for an hour.  Then remove the foil and add the almonds and cook an addition 15 minutes.  Enjoy.

One of the things that I like about this recipe is that my kids really like it.  It is great with some bread and a veggie.  Can;t wait to eat this!!

Second Frozen Meal in the Freezer

Well this was so easy and I even sampled it as I shredded the meat.  I loved the taste of it and would make it again even for a nice roast.  Like I said before I found a great site and got this recipe from the same site.

One of the things that I would suggest if you wanted to get a lot of meat or meals out of this is to use a bigger roast.  I used a 4LB 5oz roast and ended up after it was cooked to only get two one pound bags of meat out of the roast.  I added the juice to the bag so they where a little bigger.

When Scott or I plan on having this for a meal all we will need to do is thaw it, heat it, and make sure that we have buns for the sandwich.  We like to make homemade fries or sweat potato fries which would also go good with this.  If we are really busy I could see myself do frozen fries and a veggie.

Here is the website where I got the French Dip Sandwiches in a Crock Pot Meal.  Like I said before I am just going to post a picture and the site.  I think that this is a great site and feel like she should get the credit.
http://jamiecooksitup.blogspot.com/2010/10/french-dip-sandwiches-in-crockpot.html

I have about five more meals that I am going to make put plan to do a little at a time.  I wanted to do a whole day of cooking and just do it all at once.  But then found out that it would be better on our budget to get some of the ingredients a little at a time.  So that is what I have been doing buying a little at a time.  Some of the other meals that I got planned are lasagna, two chicken recipes, a chicken tetrazzini and a manicotti.  I was going to make more but was told from a friend at church that our new church family usually makes a lot of meals when babies are born!!

Since I am new at freezing ahead I am also worried that we wont eat it all in the three months and it will go to waste.  I just hope in the long run this will help me out with three kids and a husband with a crazy schedule. I hope that planning ahead will help a lot.

First Frozen Meal in the Freezer

Well the time is getting closer for baby #3 and I want to be prepared.  Right now as we speak I am 33 weeks.  With both the other kids I did not go full term so am not planning on going full term with this little one either.

With Kenton I had a rough labor and ended up with a c-section.  The recovery was hard on me and I was in a lot of pain.  On the other hand with Madison the second the c-section went good and I was up and running in about two days.  I am praying that this c-section will be like the second and I will be ready to go in a couple of days.

I do not know what to expect with having a third and am really worried about how little Miss Madison will take it.  As some of you know I watch a little girl right now and lately they both have been experiencing some jealously of one another.  I kind of have the feeling that Madison will have the jealousy toward the new baby.

So since I can't prepare a lot due to the fact that if I did it would only last a day with these kids, I have been trying to get somethings done around here that the kids can't get into.  One of the things that I have been doing is washing everything that I can get my hands on.  No mater what sex this baby  is he or she will have clean clothes ready for him or her arrival home.

Another thing that I am doing is starting to make some frozen meals for the couple of weeks after.  I like the idea of not having to cook a lot so I can keep my attention on the kids and not having to make a lot of food or clean a lot of pots and pans.

The first meal that I made this week is meatloaf.  I made three loafs that only needed to be heated and served when we need them.  I thought that this would be easy on Scott or I to just make mash potatoes on the side and go.  I ended up looking up a new recipe because I normally cook my meatloaf in the crock pot.  For these meatloaf I wanted to bake them.

I actually found a great blogger that helped me learn a lot about freezing food.  One of the things that I liked about her site was that she included the recipe.  We did end up eating one of the loafs (I made four to begin) and it was wonderful.  So I want to give credit where credit is do.

I will add the picture but if you want the recipe you should check out the site.  I plan on making a lot more of her recipes for freezing because I know that they will work and I am not very educated in freezing.  Hope you guys like her site and try some of her recipes as well.

Pictures of March, April, and May

So I look through my blog and realized that I am so far behind on doing a lot of things.   One of the things that I am behind in is getting pictures of my little ones up.  Time is just flying by here.  I feel like I just put up  the last pictures.  I also am so amazed about how my little ones are growing so fast.  Some of the pictures make both my kids look so big.  My little boy is now a big boy and getting taller everyday.  My little baby girl is now not a baby.  She even is potty training.  I was not quite ready for this but she was and saw big girl underwear and now thinks she needs to wear them instead of diapers.  I guess this is good cause I might only have one kid in diapers.  We are getting ready for baby number three but at the same time I just don't want my other two babies to grow up.  Well hope that you enjoy or pictures.
